Why Private Yoga Sessions Matter: Personalized Support, Nervous System Calm, and True Connection

There was a time when I couldn’t answer the simplest question: What brings you joy? I didn’t know what lit me up, what my passion was, or where I felt most alive. For years, I lived numbed-out—wrapped in a protective bubble built from addiction, distraction, and the illusion of “having fun.” That bubble felt safe because it kept me from having to feel, to face myself, or to choose a direction. Looking back, I can see I wasn’t living—I was simply avoiding.

I still remember being in a yoga class in my twenties, hands over my heart, asked to connect with what truly mattered. And the honest, raw answer that came up was: the bottle of wine waiting for me at home. That was my sense of purpose in that season of life. My whole world revolved around escape.

Today, with 13 years of sobriety and a completely transformed heart, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I never could have imagined that my days would be filled with meaningful connection, healing, and witnessing others return to themselves. I never could have imagined that this would become my calling.

My love affair with teaching private yoga sessions began with my own healing. In my early sober years, yoga became a lifeline—a doorway into self-discovery, nervous system healing, and learning to sit with my real feelings instead of running from them. It was the first thing that felt like a full-body yes, and I followed that yes all the way into a 200-hour teacher training, and the trainings continued.

My mentor and dear friend, Faith Martin, gently helped me unwind—one breath, one question, one nervous-system reset at a time. We began with private yoga sessions in my garage because I was “too busy,”  to make a gourp class, and those sessions slowly cracked me open. They led to my teacher training, and later to my first quiet offerings in my little yoga garage, simply because it felt too beautiful not to share.

Over time, those quiet beginnings grew into a practice. And what began as a whisper became my purpose.
Private yoga sessions are now the most meaningful part of my day. Every time someone chooses to walk through my door, I don’t take it lightly. I know how much courage it takes to go from quietly searching for something deeper to showing up, week after week, ready to do the inner work. Doing this work requires vulnerability, honesty, and an open heart. My greatest gift is holding a space where people feel safe enough to soften—to be seen, heard, felt, and supported physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

The truth is: I grow every time I sit with a client. They are my greatest teachers—right next to my wise little daughter—and together we grow, explore, and expand. There is so much beauty in cocreation, trust, and showing up for ourselves in a world that often makes it easier to disconnect.

Whether we’re moving through a fiery vinyasa flow, resting deeply with restorative yoga postures under blankets with soft touch and calming scents, receiving sound healing, or exploring the philosophy and wisdom of yoga through heartfelt conversation—it all matters. It all counts. It’s all part of the healing.

Private yoga sessions allow us to peel back layers, reconnect with what truly lights us up, and step away from autopilot living. They help us remember who we really are—our intuition, our strength, our softness, our sacred feminine wisdom, and our capacity to live authentically rather than perform.

This work is not just about poses or breath—it’s about presence, connection, nervous system healing, permission to feel, and the courage to live aligned.

This work is my heartbeat—slow, sacred, and deeply human. It isn’t just what I do, it’s a privilege I hold close. To walk alongside another soul as they find their way back home to themselves—to witness that soft unfolding, that brave opening—reminds me again and again that I am exactly where I am meant to be.
